Logan Martin Lake
Impounded in 1964, Logan Martin has become, over the years, Birmingham’s water playground. Still, despite receiving both heavy recreational boat traffic as well as constant residential construction along the shoreline, the lake continues to produce fine bass fishing. Three Bass Masters Classic world championships have been held here, in 1992, 1993, and again in 1997, with winning weights for the three-day event ranging from 34 to 59 pounds. And at one time, Logan Martin held the record for the state’s heaviest largemouth, a 14-pound, 11-ounce giant.
